Founded in 1887, The Royal Eastbourne is a traditional members’ club situated within the South Downs National Park and caters for all levels of handicap. Comprising 27 holes of challenging golf, both the Devonshire and Hartington Courses are maintained to the very highest standards. Built on chalk with excellent drainage, we rarely see the courses closed allowing quality golf to be played throughout the whole year. In recent years, our friendly clubhouse has been substantially modernised for your comfort and relaxation. A new sun terrace with magnificient views across the course and out to sea, a comfortable restaurant and bar complimented by modern and well equipped kitchen, together with excellent menus and friendly staff make dining at The Royal a truly great experience.

Measuring 6,158 yards from the competition tees golfers of all abilities face a stiff but fair challenge at Willingdon. At all times of the year players will find a perfectly manicured course with slick greens that are the envy of many other clubs. The unique layout of the course ensures that play can be commenced at either the 1st, 9th or 15th holes which are all conveniently located near to the clubhouse. Each hole on the course has its own memorable features, none more so than the course’s signature hole, the short par 3 5th, which has a row of railway sleepers encircling the green. Every one of the holes presents a challenge and the experienced golfer at Willingon knows that it is brains not brawn that will
be needed to help unlock the secret of a low score. At pat 69 the course appears relatively easy but many a good card has been ruined by underestimating the difficulty of the challenge, particularly on the par 3 holes.
